What the Bible Says About Building a House

A Strong Foundation: Bible Verses for Building a Home

Last week I made a big announcement that we've started our home building project! It's something we've been dreaming of since before we got married, and we feel so truly blessed to watch it all finally unfold. At just 26 and 27 years old and first time home owners (builders), we're trying our hardest to make smart financial decisions for our family, but we also knew that building a home would be a one-time deal for us. This home is our forever home. These are our roots. When we formed our house plans from scratch, we made sure that we had the things we needed, but also things that we really wanted (within reason), too.

We've been praying over our home every step of the way. We pray for and seek God's guidance as we make big decisions regarding our home every single week. Christ is the cornerstone of our faith and our family, and we knew we wanted to honor Him in all things during this build.

When building a new home, write scriptures on the studs of your home that are relevant to each room of the house

So once the framing started going up and the rooms were mapped out, I told my husband that I wanted to write God's word all throughout our home. I thought it would be neat to find scripture that would tie into each room of the home, and serve as a reminder to us that God's word never fails and is the infrastructure of our own lives (including our home.) I quickly got to work planning out Bible verses for building a home that we could write in each room, and I'm sharing it with all of you in case you find yourself in the midst of a building project and want to include scriptures within your own walls!

They broke bread together and ate together with glad and sincere hearts. Acts 2:46

Remove falsehood and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches— Feed me with the food allotted to me; Lest I be full and deny You, And say, "Who is the LORD?" Or lest I be poor and steal, And profane the name of my God. – Proverbs 30:8-9

He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. Job 8:21

Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates…" (Deuteronomy 11:18-20)
